While I can't see inside the unit to see whether or not it needed descaling, I did notice the flow of water into the carafe had slowed down. After using the descaling powder and cleaning solution I can say the water flow did increase as if it were brand new. I purchased the Cleaning Kit which also included cleaning solution. Followed all instructions to clean the unit and it's performing as it should. I love my Bluevua ROPOT! It's a complete necessity to have this cleaning kit with descaling powder to keep the ROPOT in top condition, so I'm thankful I was able to make the purchase.
