A: When water(H2O) reacts with carbon dioxide (CO2). it forms carbonic acid (H2CO3). The purer the water is, the more CO2 it can absorb, making it more acidic. So, the water from Bluevua Reverse Osmosis Systems might start off at a neutral pH of 7 but can drop to around 6.2 after filtration. To address this, Bluevua has introduced a remineralization filter in ROPOT and ROPOT-Lite to restore minerals and raise pH for balanced alkalinity.

A: TDS creep occurs when an RO system sits idle and there is no active pressure being applied to the raw water side of the membrane, the salt (tiny natural sodium particles which are non-threatening substances) can creep into the treated side of the membrane and lead to a higher TDS. TDS creep usually occurs when the filter has sat overnight, and can also occur when the system is left unused for more than an hour.

TDS creep is normal and common to all water systems using an RO membrane. However, it usually only affects the first filtration cycle. In order to deal with TDS creep, we'd suggest either re-filter the first quarter/half pitcher of water to get rid of the salt, or simply discard this water. The subsequent filtration should yield a decreased TDS reading.

A: Bluevua water purifier can definitely handle well water and hard water. As the key filtration component on all Bluevua RO water systems, the Reverse Osmosis (RO) flat sheet membranes feature extremely small pore sizes of 0.0001 Micrometers, these small pores ensure that any contaminants larger than this size will be effectively blocked and flushed out during the RO filtration. Only the smaller but non-threatening components like sodium and calcium may have more chances to pass through due to their smaller charges.

However, if the water hardness of the well water you use is extremely hard (more than 800 mg/L or 800 ppm), it is highly recommended to have the raw water processed by a water softener system first before using it on the RO system to help relieve the burden of the filters and the appliance.

A: If the raw water you use is very hard (more than 800 mg/L, which is above the advised TDS level set by EPA), prior to utilizing the raw water for reverse-osmosis filtration, it's essential to employ a water softener to eliminate excessive mineral deposits. This will help extend the service life and maintenance intervals of the system.

A: Bluevua countertop systems are not connected to the drainpipe, the RO reject water (which holds all the pollutants removed from the water) will drain back and stay in the water tank instead of running down the drain after the filtration.

To control the concentration of the wastewater, the filtering process will automatically stop when the water level goes near or below the white cylinder, where the raw water is sucked into the system for processing. As the remaining water (wastewater) holds all the pollutants removed from the previous cycle, It's highly recommended to follow the instructions of discarding that water each time the water level draws near or below the white cylinder to prevent the pollutants from accumulating and becoming a burden to the filters.

A: A common cause of bubbles in water is trapped air in the filtration system, a phenomenon known as "air entrapment". Here is a little more detail on how this works:

During the water filtration process, it is quite normal for some air to become trapped within the system. As the water is forced through the filter, the air gets compressed and then decompressed rapidly. This results in the formation of tiny microbubbles which are expelled along with the water when it is dispensed. These microbubbles can give the water a cloudy or milky appearance. However, these tiny bubbles don't affect the quality or safety of the water. The microbubbles will rise to the surface and dissipate, and the water will clear up after sitting for a few minutes.

A: Descaling is necessary if the filtration time for one tank exceeds 20 minutes. Under optimal conditions, the unit should filter one tank within 10-15 minutes. Be sure to act preemptively to prevent irreversible pump damage or extensive repairs due to decreased or halted water flow. Regular descaling is an integral part of maintaining your Bluevua system's performance and longevity.

A: For optimal hygiene and longevity of the tank, if you do not plan to use the water immediately, it's advisable to keep the tank empty. If you prefer to keep water in the tank, we advise using it within 24 hours, especially during the warmer months, to ensure the quality and safety of the water.

While it's not mandatory to consume the RO water immediately after its production, we recommend consuming water produced on the same day. It is worth noting that although the water itself does not expire, potential bacteria may grow if it is unsealed and left standing for more than 24 hours. For this reason, and in the interest of maintaining optimal safety and quality, we recommend not storing it for more than a day.

For longer storage, you may consider keeping the water in a sealed container and refrigerating it. Ideally, it's best to consume refrigerated water within 48 hours to ensure optimal quality.

A: You can leave the machine plugged in 24/7 without any concerns. Bluevua's units will automatically enter the power-saving mode after several minutes of inactivity to minimize power consumption.

A: ROPOT/ROPOT(UV) unit features a 1:2 waste-water ratio, which means that for every two parts of pure water, one part of wastewater is produced. If you fill the water tank to the maximum line, the unit can provide 1700ml/57.5oz of filtered water.

This impressive ratio is achieved through Bluevua's innovative filtered water system. For the ROPOT/ROPOT(UV) model, it is a countertop system and is not connected to the drainpipe, during the filtration, the pure water goes into the glass carafe while the RO reject water with contaminants goes to the water tank at the back. The RO reject water will be mixed with the raw water and used again.

The No.1 PP, No.2 CTO, and No.4 PCF filters can produde around 2000 liters/528 gallons of purified water, lasting around 12 months. While the No.3 RO filter can produce around 4000 liters/1056 gallons of purified water, lasting around 24 months.

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) refer to the combined content of all inorganic and organic substances contained in a liquid, and it is a key indicator of the quality of water and is measured in parts per million (ppm). ROPOT/ROPOT(UV) filtration systems use "IN" and "OUT" TDS levels as critical benchmarks for performance. The "OUT" TDS, displayed as a two-digit number on the right, reflects the TDS of purified water. The "IN" TDS, which are typically three-digit figures shown on the left, indicates the TDS level of raw water.

Typically, the RO filtration process ensures the removal of 90%-95% of TDS. For instance, raw water with an IN TDS of 200 will have an OUT TDS of 20 or lower after filtration. Only smaller but non-threatening components like sodium and calcium may have more chances to pass through the RO membrane due to their smaller charges. Hence, when the unit achieves a TDS reduction of 90% or more, it indicates that the filters are functioning properly and effectively eliminating harmful contaminants from the water.

The black O-rings are intended as replacement parts for the rings on the filters. Within each filter, there are two black O-rings. These O-rings ensure a secure and sealed connection between the filter and the filter base, so only if you find the O-rings distorted do you need to replace them. If this occurs, the spare black O-rings can be put into use.

The blue cleaning brushes are meant for cleaning the water tank when needed. The bigger one is for removing large dirt while the smaller one with narrow long wires is for the hard-to-reach corner areas in the tank.

During the initial use of a new unit, the raw water from the water tank will first fill up the filters. Therefore, it is normal that little to no water is dispensed during the first 1 to 2 filtration cycles.

Yes, the ROPOT/ROPOT(UV) will automatically do self-cleaning under the circumstances below:

1. For The First Time Using

When the power is on, the system will automatically switch to auto-flushing mode and start back-flushing for 18 seconds.

2. Everytime Before a Filtration Cycle

The system will be forced to have auto back-flushing for 18 seconds before a filtration cycle starts.

3. For Restored Power

When the power is restored from an outage, the system will be forced to have auto back-flushing for 18 seconds.

Manual Back-flushing is a physical cleaning method using part of the water from the water tank to back-flow the system from the permeate side to the feed side. This can effectively prevent microbial growth and limescale build-up, and extend the lifespan of filters and the system. You can activate a 1-minute manual backflushing whenever you feel the unit requires cleaning, simply by pressing the water-making and water volume buttons simultaneously.  During this phase, the banana-shaped volume button and the round water-making button will flash together, with the unit vibrating to indicate the process is active. It is important to note that the flushed water during the back-flushing will be returned to the water tank and will never go into the glass carafe. 

The maintenance steps vary based on the duration of non-usage. Here are specific steps to take for different periods:

1. Short-Term Non-Usage (1-3 days):
 
A. Drain and clean the water tank after its last operation.
B. Unplug the unit.
C. Once you decide to use it again, it's advisable to clean the water tank and carafe first, plug the unit, and make water but please dispose of the first batch of water and use the subsequent batches for consumption.
 
2. Extended Non-Usage (More than 3 days, like weeks or months):
 
Before Departure:
 
• The system must be cleaned to remove all contaminants and dirt deposited on the filters. Be sure there is enough water in the tank, then press both the round water-making button and the banana-shaped volume button simultaneously to let the machine perform a 1-minute backflushing.
• Pre-filters and post-filters (No. 1 PP, No.2 CTO, and No.4 PCF) should be hung upside down to drain water for 30 seconds, then reattached to the filter base. (On summer days, please seal the filter head with plastic wrap and put them into the fridge for storage, ideally at a temperature of around 41°F/5°C.)
• No.3 RO filter can simply be put inside the fridge without draining the water since the RO membrane needs to be kept moist. Seal the filter head with plastic wrap before storing it.
• Please empty the water tank and the glass carafe, unplug the unit and store them with the machine in a cool, dry place, without direct exposure to sunlight.
 
Upon Return:
 
• Clean the water tank and carafe first.
• Plug the unit and operate the manual back-flushing three times (press the banana-shaped water volume button and round water-making button simultaneously).
• Running one full carafe of water (and discarding it instead of drinking it) to flush and clean the whole system thoroughly.

Typically, the No.1 PP filter, No.2 CTO Filter, and No.4 PCF filter are expected to last for 12 months, or for around 2000 liters/538 gallons of purified water. The No.3 RO filter, has an extended lifespan of 24 months or for around 4000 liters/1076 gallons of purified water.

The unit's display panel provides real-time updates about the filter's lifespan. Each filter life bar shown on the display will decrease based on elapsed time and actual usage. Once all the bars are depleted, the corresponding filter icon will flash repeatedly, reminding you to replace the expired filter(s). When the system detects an expired filter(s), it will automatically enter a "lock mode" and cease operation until the expired filters are replaced and their lifespans are reset on the display panel. We recommend purchasing a replacement filter at the "1" bar and replacing it at the "0" bar.

It is essential to discard the remaining water in the tank after each filtration cycle. This leftover water is RO reject water, containing the contaminants filtered out from the raw water. To prevent a build-up of contaminants and extend the unit's lifespan, it is recommended to discard this water after each cycle.

Concerns about water wastage? To minimize wastage, we recommend discarding the water in the tank at least once per day. You can reuse the wastewater for a few more cycles before discarding it, which helps conserve water resources. However, it's important to know that discarding RO reject water can avoid contaminating your drinking water and potentially damaging the unit and filter over time.

The beeping feature on your Bluevua device is designed as a crucial alert to confirm the correct placement of the water tank and successful button activation. We recognize that the beep can sometimes be disruptive, and although we haven't yet implemented a feature to disable it, please contact Bluevua Support Team for alternative solution to effectively reduce the beeping noise.

1. When a new unit is used for the very first time, the feed water in the tank will fill up the new filter(s) first. Therefore, it is normal that no or small amount of water flows into the carafe during the first 1 to 2 filtration cycles.

2. If the water level is slightly below 1700ML, around 1650ML, please don't worry, as the accuracy of water volume is highly susceptible to fluctuations in water temperature. To prevent any potential overflow during winter caused by cold water, we have made adjustments to the maximum water volume setting to 1650ml instead of the previous 1700ml. To achieve the desired 1700ml water volume, we recommend using colder water for filtration.

3. Check if there is sufficient water in the water tank. When the water level goes below the white cylinder in the tank, the system will atomically stop making water. This serves as a reminder for the user to empty any remaining water in the tank and refill it.

4. When air bubbles enter the boost pump, they can disrupt the water flow, resulting in inaccurate water volume. We recommend performing the manual back-flushing process several times to remove any potential air bubbles by pressing the water-making and the banana-shapedvolume buttons at the same time.

1. The low temperature of the feed water

The colder input water may cause the flowmeter sensor to rotate slower during cold seasons, leading to the unit making pure water slower. Please try filtering warm water (about 77°F/25°C).

2. Trapped Air Bubbles

Air bubbles within the boost pump can prevent the pump from drawing water from the tank. Simply press the water-making and water volume buttons simultaneously, allowing it to perform a 1-minute back-flushing. Please repeat this process several times until no bubbles come out from the outlet port.

3. Limescale Build-up(NOT applicable to new units)

Deposits of limescale can disrupt water flow and affect pump operation, leading to filtration problems. Please refer to the Descaling Guide to remove the limescales in the unit.

The input (IN) TDS reading on the panel can only show three digits, while the output (OUT) TDS reading can only show two digits. Consequently, the system can only display a maximum value of IN 999 and OUT 99. If the actual TDS readings surpass this numerical limit, the displayed number will remain at the highest possible value. Thus to lower the TDS readings, remember to discard the wastewater after each filtration to prevent contaminant buildup. And if your source water is hard, please perform backflushing several times by pressing the water-making and the banana-shapedvolume buttons at the same time.

2. To drain the water, use any sharpened objects to press down the three holes at the filter's bottom to let the water flow out. Be careful of the potential water splash when you poke the three holes.
3. Store the filter in the refrigerator.
(If you have an air blow gun, getting the water out will be much easier. Simply put the gun head in the three holes at the bottom of the filter to spray the water out.)

C. To prevent microbial growth within the device, please empty the water tank and the glass carafe, and store them with the machine in a cool, dry place, without direct exposure to sunlight.

Upon Return:

A. Clean the water tank and carafe first.

B. Install the filter with the filter wrench.

C. Plug the unit and then we highly recommend operating the manual back-flushing three times (press the Flush button).

D. Running one full carafe of water (and discarding it instead of drinking it) to flush and clean the whole system thoroughly.

A: The ROPOT-Lite and ROPOT-Lite(UV) systems automatically enter backflushing mode under the circumstances below:

4. For no usage over 24 hours

The system will do automatic backflushing for 30 seconds if there is no filtering for more than 24 hours.

However, it is essential to note that wastewater from each filtration cycle may contain some contaminants, such as dissolved solids, minerals, or impurities, depending on the quality of the source water. Continually reusing wastewater without discarding it may cause a buildup of contaminants in the water tank, affecting the overall water quality produced by the RO system. To avoid this, it is recommended to dump the wastewater at least once a day, even if you only use it for a few cycles.

A: It is possible that the system has unintentionally entered the factory setting. Please refer to below steps to bypass the factory mode.

1. Power down the unit by unplugging it from the wall socket.

2. Repower the unit by plugging it back in.

3. Within 15 seconds after powering on, press and hold the "Flush" button for 8 seconds.

The colder input water may cause the flowmeter sensor to rotate slower during cold seasons, leading to the unit making pure water slower and sending out the wrong signal, resulting in the E2 error message issue. Please try filtering warm water (about 77°F/25°C).

Air bubbles within the boost pump can prevent the pump from drawing water from the tank. Simply press the 'Flush' button on your ROPOT-LITE or ROPOT-Lite(UV), allowing it to perform a 30-second back-flush. Please repeat this process several times until no bubbles come out from the outlet port.

4. Limescale Build-up(NOT applicable to new units)

Deposits of limescale can disrupt water flow and affect pump operation, leading to filtration problems. Please refer to the Descaling Guide to remove the limescales in the unit.

A: Here are some possible scenarios that can cause the red light keep blinking:

1. Low water level: When the water level falls below the white cylinder in the tank or near the dotted line (the lowest water level), the system will halt its water production process, and the red indicator will continuously flash. To resolve this issue, simply empty the remaining wastewater in the tank and refill it up to the MAX line.

2. Check the water tank: The red indicator keeps lighting up if the water tank is improperly positioned or not detected. To rectify this, please remove the water tank and verify that the magnet located at the bottomof the tank is in its place. Also, make sure the white floating ball moves upward as you fill the tank with water. Once the tank is filled to its maximum capacity, reattach it, ensuring that the two ports are securely connected.

1. Check if there're sufficient water in the water tank. When the water level goes below the white cylinder in the tank, the system will atomically stop making water. This serves as a reminder for the user to empty any remaining water in the tank and refill it.

A: The output TDS (OUT TDS) largely depends on the TDS of the input water and any increase in the TDS of the incoming water can correspondingly raise the OUT TDS levels. Please do remember to discard the leftover wastewater in the tank when the water level goes near/below the white cylinder.

A: During the initial use of a new unit, the raw water from the water tank will first fill up the filters. Therefore, it is normal that little to no water is dispensed during the first 1 to 2 filtration cycles.

A: ROPOT-Travel is designed to self-clean every 12 hours. But, if you're planning on unplugging the system for a long trip, we recommend placing your filter in the refrigerator and storing your unit in a cool, dry place to prevent any microbial growth. And just a little tip -it's best to avoid drinking the first round of filtered water when you return. Safe travels!

A: To maintain optimal performance and provide you with cleaner, safer water, the ROPOT-Travel system is designed to initiate automatic backflushing in the following scenarios. When the outer ring flashes and the water-making button is on, that means the system is in automatic backflushing mode.

1. Power activation
Upon powering on, the system will automatically engage in a 30-second backflushing cycle.

2. Post-30-minute inactivity
If the water-making button is tapped after a 30-minute period of inactivity, the system will perform a 30-second backflushing cycle prior to filtering the water.

3. After each filtration cycle
The system will perform an automatic backflushing for 30 seconds once a filtration cycle is completed. 

4. Extended inactivity of 12 hours or more
To provide additional protection, a 30-second automatic backflushing cycle will be initiated if the system has not filtered any water for over 12 hours.

A: The mineral filter contains two types of mineral balls:

1. Silver gray Magnesium granules - These are made of 99.5% pure magnesium and contribute to adding essential magnesium back into the water.
2. Gray Hydrogen ORP ball - The main ingredients of these balls are magnesium, zinc, tourmaline, Far-infrared powder, and silica. These balls work to add essential minerals necessary for proper human development and health, such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, and others that are commonly found in natural mineral waters, which will be added to the water in the form of ions.

Both mineral balls have undergone rigorous testing and have been approved by SGS-independent labs. 1. Turn off the power and empty the raw water tank.
2. Find the edge of the side cover and then pull out the cover.
3. Lift up the filter to a 45 degree position and twist in counter-clockwise direction, then pull out the expired filter.
4. Insert corresponding new filter into the filter base: PP→CTO→RO→PCF from left to right. Twist in the filter in clockwise direction until hearing the “click”, and the triangle icon on the top of the filter aligns with the triangle icon on the filter base.
5. Turn on the power, find and pull the reset toggle switch behind the panel for 3 seconds to enter filter selection mode. The No.1 filter indicator will then flash. Press the banana-shaped water volume button to switch between different filters, then pull the reset toggle switch again to complete the reset process.
6. Restart the system. To flush out the protective liquid in the brand new filter, please repeat the pure water-making process for 3 times before drinking the water.

-ROPOT-Lite/ROPOT-Lite(UV):

1. Remove the filter housing cover: Unplug the unit and lift up the filter housing cover to remove it.
2. Remove the expired filter with a filter wrench: Twist in counter-clockwise direction, then pull out the expired filter.
3. Insert the new filter: Align the triangle icon on the filter cartridge with the triangular arrow on the machine. Push down with the filter wrench and simultaneously twist in a clockwise direction to insert the new filter. Make sure the triangle icon of the filter cartridge is aligned with the little lock button of the machine.
4. Put the filter housing cover back: Place back the filter housing cover and plug in power supply.
5. Enter filter reset mode: Long press the Flush button and the water-making button simultaneously for 5 seconds to enter Filter Replacement Mode.
6. Flush the filter: Fill the water tank with tap water up to the MAX fill line. Make sure both the water tank and glass carafe are stably placed. Touch the Flush button to automatically flush water through the system. Pour out the water left in the water tank and the carafe after completing a cycle. The filter’s replacement cycle will be reset after 4 cycles of flushing.

-ROPOT-Travel:
Please refer to below step-by-step guide:
1. Unplug the unit and twist the filter housing cover in counter-clockwise direction to remove it.
2. Use filter wrench to twist the expired filter in counter-clockwise direction, then pull out the expired filter.
3. Use filter wrench to insert the new filter, push down and simultaneously twist in clockwise direction.
4. Twist the filter housing cover back in clockwise direction, then plug in power supply.
5. Reset the filter by long pressing the reset button and the water-making button simultaneously for 5 seconds.
6. Flush the filter, please refer back to steps (P6 of Manual Guide) to flush your new filter. The filter's replacement cycle will be reset after 3 cycles of flushing.

A: The shelf life for an unopened filter is 3 years.

A: Unfortunately, the used filters are not recyclable. While the filter itself is not considered hazardous, it does absorb bacteria, which can make the filter biohazardous waste. For this reason, these filters are not suitable for your curbside recycling bin, as the local facility might not have the necessary permits to handle hazardous waste under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. However, you can safely dispose of them in your regular garbage bin.

A: YES, the carafe can be put into the refrigerator.
